New background

Hey girls i did some extra for a background for the home page.  I thought a mixed media style that was quite light in the background would work really well against the drawing of the bag.

Hey, right the website is now complete and the site map is now finished. 

I Think I will add some more sounds and tweak areas ready for others to follow next week.

Some ideas for background textures ..

hey guys some ideas for what the page could look like, depending on how simple or stylised you want it...I thought id see what it looked like with the objects next to the text aswell.

let me know what you think and what you have come up with!

yep we will do what we agreed earlier. i will work on backgrounds tonight and post some up as i think we need to add some texture to create some depth/make it look more tactile. meet tomo at 1 to work on points that jonathan thought we needed to.

What to pack?

Hey I just thought what about the things that students should pack? do we need to include this? 

Also we need a song for the opening welcome screen.  I was thinking of come fly with me my frank sinatra or michael buble.

Site with sound

Hello girls! I have now added a few sounds to some of my web pages.  I have an airport noise for the destination board and a plane noise for each of the places.  I have also added sound to the camera when you change the picture.

Apologies for not turning up today. i have had to go home as Ive become rather ill.

I will keep working on the project.  Having a few problems with the welcome screen.  We shall work out the rest of the site when I see you next monday.

Harriot: i will help you with the layers on photoshop, really like the journal!

I have all the journal entries for about 6 pages, but because i havnt used photoshop very much confused on how to make these as layers ?? will save on memory stick for when we next meet.

bag of metaphors!

alrite guys! i have drawn this bag so i can illustrate some ideas... i think we can add some elements to the bag to create links/roll overs to make it really interactive. i thought about clips/zips/buttons but in the tutorial today some interesting ideas for metaphors were discussed.

we have already thought about some such as the camera (which i thought we could use for a caption such as keep people at home informed with what your up to... i also got some good travelling photos) also the departure board for popular destinations (the link to thins could be flight tickets - number 5), the journal and postcards.

Ones we thought of today were :

-a padlock for information on keeping safe (2).

-the bottom of the bag (7) where you keep heavy items for information on boring stuff like paperwork/injections etc that people usually put off

-a worn/leaking part of the bag(6) for information on what to do when things go wrong

-random currency (8) for information on costs.

just some ideas we can work on!! we dont have to have new pages for all of these information could appear elsewhere on the page/bag.

And the text coming out looks good . glad we can do that because love the idea. and yeah will look into colours and typography styles.

Hey peeps! I had ago at animating the type on the bag. What you think? I can change the writing to suit. Think we need a bit of colour on there. May be a bit longer. I will work on the informative type coming out the bag tonight.

Hey thanks for the comments. A nice new link too.  I think with the bag idea we could use type to create the bag, i will come up with a drawing tomo, may be we could get some type to move into a shape of a bag.  It would look cool.  Also we need to discuss some destinations?

sorry havnt had much of a chance to work this thing out this weekend. came up with some ideas in the tutorial on friday, we need to make this wbsite quite immersive which people thought would be difficult if we are focusing on countries. thought that to make it appeal to this young adults the concept of traveling around the world/gap year stuff would be good. the 10 things could be more interesting and relevant to them such as what you should pack, advice etc general things you wouldnt think of. visuals that could like with this are packing a bag, so could 'pack' the website/make it interactive, but i think we will still be able to include some of the stuff we have already researched, just thought it was a nice take on it! will discuss tomo. byeeee

Initial ideas, some simple sketches

Hello peeps, right i really like the idea of the audience as being a gap year student with a bag, I will draw a bag soon.  Here are some simple drawings that could be used as backgrounds for the site.  I just thought tho, type has to be important, so may be the bag could be made up of words, a type bag ? your constructive criticisms please.

Hey peeps! How the research coming along?  got any links, if so place in link part of the blog and get your ideas and sketches scanned and uploaded onto here.

A tip for you two, once scanned in use photoshop image size to put the resolution to 72 pixels, then the images will upload faster to the blog site.  Also change the font to verdana as i think it is more legible than some of the others.

P.S we need to discuss what destinations we need to do, and how many.  Think if we split it up it will work fine and look good.
